- According to one congregant, Riverside Church in Manhattan recently fired Rev. Braxton because: “What he says consistently in sermons is talking about the only way to God is through a particular fundamentalist path, which is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior, and that’s a huge change in our theology. It’s a huge change in our openness and our inclusiveness.” [The American Spectator] This reasoning begs the question: Would Riverside Church have fired Jesus Christ himself as preacher? [John 14:6-7: Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." NIV.).
- What does it mean to be a "Christian"? [The Examiner].
- “Lord, save us from your followers!” [Lord, Save Us From Your Followers - The Movie]. Given the importance of the church (See Ephesians 1: 22-23: And God placed all things under [Jesus'] feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” NIV.), can we simply ignore it?
